Choosing the right organisations to support your US surrogacy journey

In the US there is a huge choice of specialist agencies, clinics and attorneys that can support your surrogacy journey, but it can be difficult to choose the right ones for you and your particular circumstances if you don’t have any prior knowledge or experience in this area.

You will need to align with organisations that have experience of supporting UK intended parents, well established processes, strong ethics, the right technical expertise, will fit your budget and will support you on your journey in a way that is going to work for you. It’s a very individual choice.

There will be more nuanced variables that are specific to you and your circumstances that will be important to take into consideration such as your reason for surrogacy, your embryo situation/plans, geographical preferences, your flexibility, your preferred communication style, your hopes and expectations around your relationship with a surrogate and more.

How can BB help me decide?

Thorough research can be time consuming and overwhelming. It can be tricky to find impartial reviews and decipher between the organisations that actually deliver on their promises, and those who rely on slick marketing campaigns to attract clients.

At Brilliant Beginnings and NGA Law, we have over 15 years’ experience of supporting UK parents through surrogacy in the US, and during that time we have built up a trusted network of clinics, agencies, attorneys and third party organisations that have proven experience of looking after our clients in the way they expect and deserve.

We don’t receive any financial incentives by recommending them, and our team nurtures strong relationships to ensure we stay ahead of changes within the industry. We only work with organisations that have proven track records, are transparent about their fee structures and ethics, and we won’t hesitate to be open with our clients if standards slip.

The professionals that we recommend value the education and support that we give our intended parents, and we regularly receive feedback about how well prepared our clients are, and how refreshing it is to work with parents who have a realistic understanding of what to expect from the journey ahead.

How does BB support once I’ve decided?

Through our US Surrogacy Pathway, BB’s involvement doesn’t end once we have introduced you to your US partners. We continue to support you throughout your journey, offering guidance, reassurance, being a sounding board for your concerns and sharing in your joyful moments and key milestones. Because of the relationships we have built with the various US organisations, we are able to do a lot of work “behind the scenes” if needed, which can alleviate some of the stress and worry for you, leaving you to focus on things such as your relationship with your surrogate and getting excited as you prepare for the birth of your baby.

We work seamlessly with NGA Law who will support you on all UK legal aspects of your journey. This includes tailored legal advice specific to your circumstances from the outset and throughout your journey, drafting specialist wills for surrogacy, securing your child’s British nationality and passport and a choice of legal representation services to help you navigate the UK legal process to become your child’s legal parents.

Your US surrogacy journey can be long, complex and expensive. An average journey can be 18 months – 3 years, costing an average of £250,000+ so it’s crucial to get the mix of professionals supporting you right from the start, so you can move forward with confidence.
